Sparring 2

#Sparring_Arena - This room will be open through the sparring event.
It will be a room designated NKZ-Neutral Zone.
This room will be open 24/7 to allow practice for the event though it might not show up on the list.

Part One

1. To initiate a fight both parties have to acknowledge the combat. This means the aggressor(attacker) names their target and shows their intent. And the target(defender) accepts the challenge with an acknowledging post.

Attacker> *looks to Defender* "I been looking for you"
Attacker> *draws his weapons looking at Defender* "draw your weapons and prepare to die"
Defender> *draws his weapons looking at the attacker* " you have found Me but it is you who will die.

Now there has been a challenge and it is accepted.( It should be noted at this time, You must declare and name the weapons you will use when drawing them, such as, *draws His sword and dagger, or whatever weapon he will use and you must declare which hand the weapon is held in,left or right)

2. This is the only time during combat that speed counts also a little strategy comes in. If "Attacker" makes the next post, an attack. Then "Defender" must defend the attack, if He does not, then the attack strikes and he may well die in the opening round. However, if Defender is faster and gets the post first, and Attacker does not defend, then it is the same, the attack strikes and He may well be incapacitated. Thus when you begin a fight, you must be aware if your opponent gets the first attack post or not. If he does, then you must defend.

3. Now the combat(fight) has begun, from the point of the first attacking post, it alternates, each person gets a chance to defend and attack. You must defend each attack successfully. Except for the very first post, you must defend first, and in the same post attack.

Attacker>*swings My sword to his neck* (opening post)
Defender>*blocks his sword with My shield as I plunge My sword to His belly* (second post
Attacker>Blocks his sword with My shield while jabbing sword to his shield arm*

And thus it continues until one misses a defense and is incapacitated or first blood is drawn. This is the basics for starting Combat and how to fight during Combat.

Part Two

Weapons in this combat are to be the exact same as in the books. There are no 12 foot long swords, No rapid fire cross bows, quiva's and dagger's are thrown one at a time, not 6 at a time killing 6 Men in 6 different places. Weapons have to be as true to the book's as they can be. According to the books Warriors were trained to fight right handed even if they were left handed as Tarl Cabot was. Which weapon's you choose is up to you. You can use a different weapon with each fight, however you cannot change weapons after a fight has started. If you draw a dagger or quiva or something else, You must describe how you drew the weapon and it must be feasible that you could use it. All moves whether they be attacking or defending must be feasible, able to do rt. As well, there are no Supermen able to leap buildings, no Flying Batman, no Conan the Barbarian's. If the move cannot be done by the avg Person it will not count. According to the books although some men were larger then others, it was skill and not strength that decided combats. And in these fights skill will decide, not super human strength.

Part Three

The actual combat is simple. Alternate posts, defend the first part of your post and attack the second part. Do both in one post. Use weapons that are actually in the books. Now for an example of a fight between Conan and Batman.

Conan> **walks into the room looking at Batman*
Conan> ** draws His sword and dagger* I am here for your head
Batman> ** rising up looking at Him as I draw My sword and shield* then come get it if you can
Conan> **rushes forward swinging My sword to His head, My dagger plunging up into his belly**
Batman>** raises My shield to fend off his sword, My sword swinging down to slice his hand off at the wrist stopping the dagger**
Conan>** turns the dagger in My hand to protect My wrist blocking his sword, as I draw My sword back and plunge it into his belly*
Batman> **using the shield I knock his dagger from his grip swinging My sword to his neck*
Conan> *ducks under his sword*

Batman is dead, because he did not defend the attack of the sword to his belly. Conan even though he knew he had struck the belly, still ducked under the sword so there would be no dispute if He was struck in death.

I apologize for the use of the names Batman and Conan, seemed names I could use and not offend anyone. And again, this was an example, actual combat can be more complex, and usually takes a little longer. It can last several minutes.

Part Four

Some do's and don’ts--

1)Name your weapons at the beginning of the fight stating what they are.

2)Defend all attacks in the first part of your post, attacking in the second part.

3)Do not double post. It is alternating. If you double post it will count as a post, even if you are just correcting typos, or chatting with someone.
Example of double post:
Conan> Swings sorwd
Conan> sword
Batman> blocks his sword and plunges Mine to his heart

Conan is dead, in his second post he did not defend the blow to his heart. He simply corrected a typo, *sword*

4)Do not change weapons in the middle of a fight such as switching from a short sword to a scimitar. Although they are similar weapons, they are not the same. If you pull another weapon such as a quiva or dagger during a fight, detail how you pulled it and use it.

5)Do not type, *pulls quiva and throws it*. Something to the effect, * reaches with My left hand pulling My quiva from its sheath in My belt, holding it in My left hand ready*( or if feasible attacking with it, though it is hard to get a weapon out and attack unless the attack is low. It would be hard to draw it from your belt and raise it high and plunge it into his neck in one motion without leaving yourself very vulnerable to attack).

6)All moves must be realistic, and must with some certainty be able to be performed in reality by the average Person.

7)Typo's and misspelled words don’t matter as long as you get your point across.

8)Since speed does not matter, take enough time to make sure you get across what are you are trying to do.

9)Do not *take out your crayon and draw a fake sword and chop off his head*. This would count as accepting the challenge and since a picture of a sword cannot defend, you will be dead.

Part Five

The results of combat can vary. These spars are not to the death, they are to the point of incapacity or first blood. You can be injured to the point you cannot continue and will be spared death. Those of honour will follow these rules. This is detailed explanation of the rules, borrowed with permission from the CoC archives. Something may have been overlooked, or something may occur that is not covered here, therefore each tournament will be judged by at least 2 judges and their ruling is final.
